Email/Spam Control & Virus Checking

Airfire self-managed email offers 3 methods to check email - pop, imap and webmail. Employee addresses can be added or removed and passwords retrieved without the involvement of Airfire. Our SMTP allows our email customers to send email from anywhere.

Airfire email, unlike many email packages, has built-in Spam Control and Automatic Virus Checking. We block incoming spam from known spam sources through our subscription to nine leading blacklists. We check the IP address and if it is on the list, we don't accept it. This feature also places an entry in the control panel that email has been refused and it is held in a quarantined area. The customer can then go in and check the mail without opening it to ensure it should be blocked and deleted.

In addition to these two screens, we also examine the content of the email using a set of pre-configured rules for tell-tale signs of spam. The customer has the ability to set the threshold of the content filter. Unchecked quarantined email is automatically deleted after two weeks.

Airfire performs the same process with our Virus Checking system. We read and block the name of the attachment if it is on one of our subscribed blacklists. We also automatically block executable attachments.
